Do you believe that humans have a basic instinct to “interact and work as a group,” as Rheingold proposed in his discussion of the evolution of Wikipedia as a collectively developed encyclopedia?
I do think
humans have a basic instinct to work as a group but I think the instinct kicks
in when the task is larger than one person to handle. The video gives hunting
as a example of a collaborative task. The better the game the more
collaboration is required. I think the same thing can be said for big projects
that have to be completed. We can accomplish more as a team. Wikipedia is an
example of a big project being hand by much group work or collaboration.
How
can technology facilitate collaboration among learners based on
constructivist principles?
Technology
is a tool that can provide instant access to a neighbor, friend, or a stranger.
Tools such as Skype, Blogs, Wiki, and Google Doc are tools that help facilitate
collaboration. Some tools help provide instant feedback through online
discussion. Learning thorough a community helps deepen understanding and store
knowledge into the long term memory.
Find
a current research study that has been conducted in the last 5 years that
supports collaboration as an effective tool for learning. Include the link
and reference for this study in your blog. Reference:
