Module 4 Blog Post: Connectivism

Reflection

How has your network changed the way you learn?

My network has provided me numerous resources to gather information from. I am no longer a private learner but I am public learner meaning I share what I learn with others.  Learning is a continuous process because I am always striving to learn more by staying connected.  My students benefit from what I learn therefore, I always have them in mind as I seek more knowledge.

Which digital tools best facilitate learning for you?
I have a website I can use as a communication tool for students, parents, and the community. Presentation tools such as Prezi, Videos, Digital Storytelling, etc. help facilitate learning for me. The hardware tools such as the projector, document camera, ActivBoard, ActivSlate, etc. also facilitate the learning process.
How do you learn new knowledge when you have questions?

If I need to know how to use something I usually look for the online tutorials that explain how to use the product or application. If I am trying to learning a new strategy I may find someone that has used the strategy before and ask that person questions. Another resource for me would be books. For example, I have a book about formative assessments if I have a question about the proper way to do this assessment I would look at the book for guidance.

  1. Hi Christina,
I also use online tutorials for help. Dr. Moller sent an attachment that I could not open because java needed to be downloaded. Well, I didn't know where to start so I searched the internet. Windows has an online tutorial that has step-by-step instructions on how to install java to Internet Explorer. Online tutorials can solve a lot of issues and alleviate stress and hassle of not knowing.

  2. Hi Tina,

I think the key word in connectivism is "connect". Our network connectiions (personal, educational, or professional)allows us to build on knowledge and gain more knowledge through our various interactions with one another.

  3. Hi Tina,

You are so right! Online tutorials are great! And, if the company does not have one, or has a confusing one, I can always find several other tutorials filmed by other people.

  4. Tina,
I agree with you about if I need to learn how to do something then I look it up online. I do the exact same thing as you do, but some times I do ask my fellow colleagues to see if they can explain in a way that I can understand.
