Learning
in a Digital World
I believe that learning is an ongoing process that changes often. There is no cookie cutter recipe for how people learn. Teaching and learning go hand and hand. Having the experience of on both sides helps me understand how to facilitate the learning process for my students. Students’ ability to access technology has provided a way to get instant access to information. My educational experiences have been based on the structure of my life. The face-to- face instruction was during the time that I was fresh out of high school and was use to being in a classroom with an instructor. I enjoyed the experience of meeting new people and being able to attend study sessions with the professors. Now that I am older and have more responsibilities, online learning is the best option for me. It caters to my inability to attend face-to-face instructional settings.
I agree with many of the learning theories because they all
contribute to the learning process. I
can relate with the connectivism theory because the world has become a place where people feel the need to
stay connected. We learn a lot from our peers on a daily basis.
Throughout my masters and specialist program I engaged in discussions involving the instructor and my classmates. I found this to be a great way to acquire new and useful information other than what I received from the learning resources. The discussions allowed me to share and receive ideas and information from professionals in my field and I still implement many of the strategies and resources I acquired through these discussions.
